We invite you to submit a paper to CAML'08 which will be held in
Cergy-Pontoise - Paris, France on October 27-31, 2008. CAML'08 is an IEEE/ACM sponsored workshop covering
a wide range of topics in the emerging field of M-learning. The aim of this
workshop is to advance the state-of-the-art in M-learning design and theories,
context-awareness in M-learning, and knowledge management for M-learning.
CAML'08 in conjunction with CSTST'08 provides a forum for researchers and
practitioners to present and discuss their research and experience in the field
of mobile learning. We solicit both academic and industrial contributions
covering mobile learning technologies, theories, systems, and applications.
Topics of the workshop include, but are not limited to:
M-Learning on the Semantic Web
Ontology-based approaches for M-Learning
Ubiquitous Computing and M-Learning
Context Management for M-Learning
M-Learning for Corporate Training
Virtual M-Learning Environments (VMLE) and
Collaborative M-Learning
Curriculum and Courseware for M-Learning and
Training
Authoring Tools for M-Learning
Security Issues of M-Learning
Learning Management Systems (LMS) for
M-Learning
Testing, Assessment and Quality Issues of
M-Learning
Pedagogical Approaches and Theories for
M-Learning
Gaming and Simulations in M-Learning
Informal and Lifelong M-Learning
New Tools, Technologies and Platforms for
M-Learning
Infrastructure and Organizational Issue of
M-Learning
Applications of Mobile Technology in Open,
Distance, and Corporate Education
Case Studies and Applications.
Paper Submission
Authors are invited to submit original
non–published academic and industrial research work related to the topics of the
workshop. Submissions must be in an electronic form as PDF files and should be
uploaded using the CSTST'08 conference's websitehttp://sigappfr.acm.org/cstst08/submission.php. Full paper submissions should be inACM formatwith a limit of 6 pages. Submissions will be
peer-reviewed by at least 3 independent reviewers of the PC. At least one author
should attend the workshop to present the paper. The conference Proceedings will
be indexed by ACM Digital Library and published with an ISBN.

From 27 October 2008 till 31 October 2008 Location: ICCE conference, Taipei, Taiwan
ICCE 2008 Conference workshop
Taking advantage of an international gathering of researchers at ICCE 2008 in Taiwan (http://www.apsce.net/icce2008/),
this workshop is designed to facilitate exploration of pedagogical,
cultural and social issues surrounding the introduction and uptake of
mobile and ubiquitous language learning. Mobile technologies promise to
stimulate and transform language learning, but the potential is not yet
being fully realized. As mobile learners begin to cross existing
boundaries between formal and informal learning, and as they take more
advantage of opportunities to travel and study in other countries, new
challenges arise out of tensions between learner expectations, emergent
social networking practices, and what is appropriate in a particular
pedagogical culture or social environment of technology use.
The
workshop will provide a forum where international participants can
share knowledge on the latest developments in mobile language learning
and map out directions for future developments and research
collaborations. The emphasis will be on exploring how cultural
imperatives and pedagogical approaches may be determining the
development of mobile language learning in different parts of the
world, and what is needed to extend thinking beyond the usual
boundaries. ‘Perspectives on context’ will be elicited through a
structured discussion, with a view to identifying different
interpretations and manifestations of context, to inform the design and
evaluation of future mobile and ubiquitous language learning.
The
format of the half-day workshop will allow for 3 or 4 selected papers,
followed by a round table discussion led by the workshop leaders. You
do NOT have to submit a paper to take part in the workshop, but all
participants should submit a short statement (see below).
Workshop papers: These should be 5 pages long, addressing one or more of the following:
· Context-aware mobile language learning
· Pedagogical approaches in mobile language learning
· Learner experiences of mobile language learning
· Cultural or social issues in mobile language learning
· Virtual environments and mobile language learning
· Practical and ergonomic issues in mobile language learning
All
workshop papers will be reviewed and accepted papers will appear in a
volume of workshop proceedings with ISBN. Published workshop papers
will also be made available on the official ICCE2008 website.
All participants are asked to provide a short statement
(up to 600 words) outlining their perspective on context in mobile and
ubiquitous language learning, based either on their own research or a
review of research they are familiar with. Statements will be collated
and made available electronically to all participants of the workshop.
All participants are required to register for the main conference, but there is no additional workshop fee.
Timetable:
Expression of interest: Please indicate your intention to participate, as soon as possible, by contacting the workshop leaders.
Timetable for those submitting workshop papers:
August 15, 2008: Submission deadline for workshop papers
